Bangor is an ancient, historic University and Cathedral city with unique character and landscape - it has its own mountain, panoramic views of the sea, a wealth of facilities and activities and the longest High Street in Wales!

Evening entertainment is plentiful - Theatr Gwynedd offers the best in dramas and plays, Plaza Cinema features the latest in films whilst the University hosts many concerts throughout the year. The University offers excellent facilities and is the perfect setting for meetings and conferences.

Bangor was a major seaport, shipping slate throughout the world and the evidence can still be seen at Penrhyn Castle, a magnificent mock Norman castle, built for the Pennant family, with the vast fortunes made from slate at the Bethesda Quarries. Owned by the National Trust it has an outstanding collection of old grand master paintings, an industrial railway museum, a Victorian walled garden and a countryside exhibition. Re-live over 2,000 years of history which comes together at the Bangor Museum and Gallery, wander at your leisure along the 1.500 foot long Victorian Pier built in 1896 or take a stroll to Port Penrhyn where slates were loaded.
