Return to Previous pagePrevious page
Beaumaris Castle is situated on the Isle of Anglesey overlooking the sea and mountains of Wales, with its history very much linked with the town of Beaumaris. The word beaumaris comes from the phrase 'beau marais' meaning 'fair marsh'.

The castle was built by Edward 1st as one of the 'iron ring' of North Wales Castles, to try and stamp his authority on the Welsh.
